I am an author and I've been writing since I was a wee thing, and publishing since I discovered the internet in 1994 or so. So what do I write? Contemporary and urban fantasy have mainly been my playground, with some horror as well, and I have done some real world settings as well. I do like mystery and have been reading (and watching) Agatha Christie since I was a child. I've also been known to do a bit of poetry. Style: I have been told I do angst well, so if you want your heartstrings twanged, or your tummy to tie in knots until the end, then I'm your gal. I am, however, a happy ending junkie, although I do throw a hint of realism in there sometimes as well. I like a few twists and turns on the way in some of my plots, although I have written my share of PWPs as well. Also, I have never met a cliché I didn't like and I am a firm believer that cliché is fine if you do it right. Writing is a passion and there's nothing better than writing for an audience. Any writer who says they don't care about feedback must have had an ego amputation If you like my scribbles, I'd be very glad to hear from you.

    The Cup Runneth Over

    Natasha Duncan-Drake

THERE IS SOMETHING HERE. You know it with every fibre of your being, can feel it in your very bones. Why you decided to come seems unfathomable now.

It started two days ago. You were at your aunt's new place helping her move in. She was downsizing now that your cousins have all moved out. Your uncle hasn't been in the picture for years and those cousins were off all over the country, so you had offered to help. Of course, with downsizing always comes the problem of too much stuff. In the end there were a pile of boxes in the living room that had no place to go. Just as you'd hoped.

Your aunt told you that if you helped her go through them, just to make sure there wasn't anything she wanted to keep, you could have anything from them that took your fancy. It was an offer your covetous heart could not help but jump at.

There were a few things you leapt at, like the whole box of Star Wars figures and toys that had once belonged to one of your cousins. Yours now. Their fault for not bothering to turn up and help their mum, in your opinion. You know exactly the dealer who will wet themselves with joy and part with cash. And a couple of paintings you were sure would be worth something, but not as lucrative as you had hoped. Unfortunately, your Aunt has taste and a discerning eye. Nothing much else spoke to you except a couple of graphic novels and one old looking book. It had a gold inlaid design on the front that almost looked like it was supposed to mean something, and it intrigued you.

You've never really been the type to like old books that much, unless they were first editions, being much more into current releases, but this one got your attention. You took that and your other haul home that evening. You didn't mean to open it. In fact, you were tired and meant to order a pizza, stick on the telly and do nothing until bed.

Right now, you really wish you had.

Somehow, after you used your phone to send out for a deep pan pepperoni with olives, the book had ended up in your lap before you could find the remote. It had looked valuable, not readable, but you had opened it anyway. You hadn't even really looked inside back at your aunt's, which really should have been the first neon sign of oddness. Hindsight being twenty-twenty is very frustrating.

It turned out to be a local history, printed
