- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2018Bette Monroe has been working for Simon Kramer for two years, and over those years she’s watched him go through endless women. He’s not interested in commitment, and she’s sent enough flowers on his behalf to prove it. When the lingerie line she’s been designing is picked up by a major store chain, she quits her job.
Simon is gobsmacked by her resignation. While he’s eyed her from afar for two years, he’s never really contemplated making a pass at her for fear of being sued for sexual harassment. The law firm he started with three friends who came from the same bleak childhood he did – living on the streets, conning people for a living – is too important to him to risk jeopardising it with a sexual harassment suit. So he keeps his distance… until he suspects Bette might be the office mole he’s been trying to ferret out. Someone is selling confidential papers from the law firm to a rival firm, and Simon is desperate to stop it.
Since she will no longer be his employee, and since he finds his attraction to her bubbling to the surface, he decides to finally seduce her and see if he can find evidence she is the mole… only to have the tables turned on him by Bette, who seduces him instead. She wants to get out of the two week notice Simon’s forcing her to serve on her contract, and she knows the only way to make that happen is to let Simon think she’s in love with him – because she knows the commitment shy lawyer will let her go.
Except that doesn’t happen. Simon finds himself intrigued by the layers that are Bette… both underneath her clothing and as a person. Bette’s signature on her lingerie are bows that hold the fabric together, and Simon delights in undoing each and every bow he finds. They find themselves unable to resist each other and have lots of hot sex, until they both realise that the game they’re playing with each other is no longer a game.
Bette finds out at her going away party from one of the partners that Simon only seduced her to see if she was the mole, and she gets angry, quite rightly so. She confronts Simon, slaps him, and walks away. Only she’s miserable without him, and when Simon’s three friends rock up to her new apartment and tell her he’s miserable without her, she decides to go see for herself. They kiss and make up on his couch and, since they’re no longer working together, admit they really have fallen in love with each other.
Loved this book, love this new imprint!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2018For two years Bette has been Simon’s executive assistant and she has watched other women come in and out of his life. She has her reasons for handing in her resignation and it doesn’t mean she has been betraying him.
When Bette hands in her resignation just when he is investigating the employees for sharing company secrets it causes him to question if she is the guilty party.
He has ten days to figure out the truth before her notice is complete and since she is leaving there is no fear of a sexual harassment claim so he decides to seduce the truth out of her. The question is who is seducing who and what happen when she finds out the reason for his sudden interest?
The attraction and chemistry between Bette and Simon had always been bubbling under the service but once they release it the fire erupts but now they just need to overcome the misunderstandings and trust issues that surround them.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2018I think this is a really good first book in the Legal Lovers series. I think the book started off really fast which did not appeal to me, but she did have only a short window to work with based on the story line. I put this book in my feminist category because the main female character is not just some assistant who is infatuated with her boss, but she has goals and dreams that she is trying to achieve and he completely supports her. I think that it is a beautiful way to represent a healthy relationship in this type of book.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2018Legal Seduction is a lesson in character building. He's the tough guy, with a good head on his shoulders, but a deeply guarded heart. She's the wallflower with big dreams and secret fantasies. Simon and Bette could be a perfect match, if they learn to trust each other. Lisa Childs scorches up the pages with her sensual tango of love lust and mistrust. Love is a risky business and Ms Child's makes the risk worthwhile.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2018This is the first book that I have read by Lisa Childs, but it certainly won’t be the last. Bette and Simon are our featured hero and heroine in this decidedly dirty love story…and I freaking adored Bette! Bette is everything you want in a heroine. She’s classy, smart, beautiful, kind, and has a very strong sense of self and what she wants out of life. I loved her plucky attitude and the way she was able to stand toe-to-toe with Simon, without cowering like a simpering female. Sure, she’s sexually attracted to him but she is a woman who knows her worth and she’s not afraid to say what she feels or what she thinks. Simon, however….I will be very honest. I almost stopped reading this book because of his attitude about himself. It’s one thing to be confident, it’s another to be cocky and too much of thinking about how amazing you are pushes you right to the cocky attitude that I find to be a complete turn-off in my romance heroes (not to mention, I did get annoyed at how often Bette equated him to being blindingly gorgeous). But, I’m glad I stuck with this because it ended up being a very good, sinfully entertaining book. Bette and Simon have very obvious chemistry but Bette has plans outside of the legal field where Simon is a partner, and those plans don’t mesh well with Simon’s vicious business tactics. Bette is moving on to greener pastures…but Simon isn’t quite ready to let her go without a fight. Simon has more than one reason for trying to keep Bette close and when everything backfires…well brace yourself for some pretty heady fireworks. This book has a great plot, very likable characters (if you can get over the whole “cocky lawyer” attitudes), and some pretty down and dirty sex scenes (which were perfect, and the main reason I decided to give this new line a try). Overall, with the exception of having to warm up to my hero, this was a wonderful way to spend my afternoon and I’m on pins and needles for the next book in this series. Ms. Childs has definitely piqued my interest and left me wanting more! 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it.
This new series of Mills and Boon is not for everyone. It is a little bit naughtier than other series like the Sexy ones. If you can overlook the obviously more graphic wording of these books and you are a romantic than try a read. I did and I loved it. Will be reading more of them.
