About this ebook

Beyond the veil exists a world of enchanting Fae known for their temptation and trickery. From the sirens of the ocean depths to the kindly tree dwellers of the forest, these creatures lure you in with their beguiling charms.

Humans should be wary of the faery folk, particularly those who tread with darkness at their heels.

Take a journey to the sea where mermaids seek vengeance upon arrogant humans and ruthless pirates refuse to heed the Harbinger warning. A dip into the forest reveals a tree holding the evil of all mankind, while a naive woman becomes enthralled with the idea of building a fairy home only to be taken in by the wiles of a deceptive changling. Meanwhile, a mission turns awry when Fae from Summer and Winter Courts stumble upon a rogue and her army. Finally, a determined King steps into the darkness to reclaim the power of Air for his people.

    Sweet Nothings

    By Tish MacWebber

Clara didn’t remember falling asleep. It was like that for her recently. One minute she was reading a book, and the next she was waking up. During the night, she remembered to take her glasses off. The alarm had brought her out of deep sleep. Clara could not remember her dream, only something about a whisper. Was that from her book, she wondered to herself?

Clara picked up the book and looked up the place where she stopped reading last night. She vaguely remembered what part of the story she had been reading, but it was not about a whisper. Clara replaced the bookmark and found her glasses while turning the alarm off.

Although it was Saturday, she had plans to go get supplies today to work on a craft project. The sun was out, and she could work in her backyard. As she started her coffeemaker, she thought about her plans for the day ahead.

Clara didn’t know where she got the idea for today’s project. She just knew that today was the day she would work on creating a fairy house. They were cute little projects, and she needed to try something new to break free from the pattern of just going through the motions. Sleep, eat, work, repeat got monotonous after a while. Today she would do something different.

She quickly grabbed a shower, got dressed, and caught up on the news while she had a second cup of coffee. Breakfast was leftover pizza. She was even very predictable about her eating habits, and found herself at the same pizza place every Friday night, ordering her weekly indulgence. She ate healthy most of the time, but on Friday nights, she looked forward to her pizza.

It was June 21, the longest day of the year. Perfect for working on a project outside. She could take advantage of the extra long daylight hours to make sure she finished in one day.

As she was getting ready to go to the local craft store, she turned on her computer to search for any coupons on the worldwide web. It was always a good plan to use coupons these days, and she found an online flyer for the store she was heading to.

As Clara closed her laptop to get ready for her shopping trip, she thought she saw something out of the corner of her eye. She blinked, and it was no longer there. She forgot about it in her excitement to get her supplies.

When she arrived at the store, someone was turning the sign from closed to open. Clara was the only person pulling into the parking lot, so she would have the store, and the help of the staff to herself, for the moment. She was not a crafty person, so she figured she would need help to gather what she needed for the project.

She introduced herself to the lady who had flipped the sign. The lady told her that her name was Jewel, and Clara thought it was an apt name for someone working in the craft industry. She seemed knowledgeable and was very helpful.

Clara left the store with several bags of supplies. There was a kit for the actual fairy house she would put together, she wanted a little guidance on the basics before she customized her project.

The coupon came in handy; she saved enough money to treat herself for lunch. With her lunch beside her on the passenger seat, she made her way home.

She loved her home. Sometimes she sat in the car for a few minutes just to look at it. It has such adorable curb appeal. It was a cottage, surrounded by herbal and floral gardens in the front, with a vegetable garden in the back. There was a beautiful sun porch just inside, with a large front step, relatively, for the cottage. She was often taking a break from gardening with a beverage in her rocking chair. She liked the isolation in the trees and hedges provided in the backyard. It was her own little oasis in the middle of the suburbs.

She had only been living there for a few months and had no regrets. The kitchen was bright; the rooms were just the right sizes, and her bathroom was modern, but still cozy because of the antique bathtub with the lion foot claws holding it in place. It was one of many things which drew her to buy her cottage.

    She set the project items
