About the authors
A child of the 80's and devoted attendant of Saturday Morning Cartoons back before cable TV reduced their appeal, my life has been full of adventures great and small, real and imagined, and since a young age I've shared those adventures with anyone who would listen.
I love science fiction, science fact, and fantasy because they each engage the imagination in different but equally powerful ways. I'm just as comfortable discussing the outcomes which hinge on a roll of dice as I am talking about the latest discoveries in astrophysics--and my exceptionally patient wife would gladly confirm that I tend to ramble when I find a subject I can engage with.
I tend to write stories with heavy emphasis on character development, action, and dialogue. I also tend to gravitate toward sagas and longer stories; I don't dislike short stories or one-off novels, but my imagination works best when given a long leash. So if I write something you like, you can expect plenty more where it came from!
Craig is a million-selling author of science fiction (post-apocalyptic, military sci-fi, and space opera), thrillers, and non-fiction.
Craig retired from the Marine Corps after a long career in the military intelligence community, having worked with most of the U.S. Government's three-letter agencies. After a short stint with physical security, Craig went to law school, graduated summa cum laude, and went into business consulting. From intelligence, to the inner workings of company board rooms, to on-the-ground leadership, Craig has seen it firsthand.
His books are an extension of his experience, putting the trials and tribulations of a fast-paced world into your hands. Whether in Science Fiction, Thrillers, Fantasy, or even his Non-Fiction, you'll find consistent themes of justice and doing right by those who are counting on their leaders. Leadership is a service, not a crown to lord over others.
No matter where Craig went, he always had a book with him. Thanks to 21st Century technology, He now has thousands of books at his fingertips and with him wherever he goes. How many books would he have read on deployments had he not had to carry a physical book?
No one is encumbered like that now. Craig loves the works of Robert Heinlein, Anne McCaffrey, Andre Norton, JRR Tolkien, Robert E. Howard, and so many more. He has been compared to Andre Norton and that is humbling - she was an incredible author with a huge list of novels to her credit. With every new book, Craig aspires to live up to those that you, the readers, have compared him to.
Through a bizarre series of events, Craig ended up in Fairbanks, Alaska. He never expected to retire to a place where golf courses are only open for four months out of the year. But that's the way it is. It is off the beaten path. He and his wife get to watch the northern lights from their driveway. Their dog has lots of room to run, just until temperatures reach fifty below zero. They have from three and a half hours of daylight in the winter to twenty-four hours in the summer.
It’s all part of the give and take of life. If they didn’t have those extremes, then everyone would live in the sub-arctic.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2019Congratulations to C.H. Gideon, Caleb Wachter and Craig Martelle for this amazing series. Its amazing to find such interesting and exciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in their stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2019Another awesome book in the Metal Legion series! Lots and lots of hard-hitting action. I can't wait to see what Jenkins, Xi Bao, Podsy, and the rest of the unit get up to next with the new mission. Keep churning out the awesome stories Craig!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2019This series is really developing into a great story with plenty of breadcrumbs to lead up to expect more unexpected twists and turns. Nothing in this universe is predictable except of course “Metal never dies”. As a side note from someone who never appreciated Heavy Metal music my interest is being stirred and I will have to explore the various tunes mentioned in the books 😉
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2019I’ve been binging (more or less) this series and it keeps improving. My prior reviews have spoken to the intrigue, plotting and dubious alliances and all that good stuff continues in this one with the added bonus of promotions for the good guys, changing relationships and a new mission at the end. Great read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2019The story line will keep you wanting more. I have read the series and will re-read them again later. The main characters are well crafted and make you feel like you are one of them. The action is almost non stop. Please do not miss this series. You don't have to start with book one. Each stands on its own.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2019I have only one complaint about this series of books; I now must wait for the next book! The connection and relationships of the characters in the trenches is genuine. I enjoy the banter of the characters. It breaks down to crudites any close knit unit uses to communicate. It is a martial way for hard men and women to say they care about one another. It is hard for most civilians to understand how deep that bond can be.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2019I really enjoyed watching the officers grow in this book. And, of course, I loved the action! Gotta love great military action; human, mech or ship! Then thank the humans for their service!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great read about Jenkins and Boa
Another great story about Jenkins and Boa. If you don't know the characters where have you been asleep. Get book 1 and start catching up. I started reading myself from book 3 as did not know any better but I am telling you start at book 1 I went back and glad I did and read book 3 again with a completely different mindset which made the book better. So again start at book 1 and I bet within the month at the latest you will be up to speed. Read and enjoy.
To the authors keep them coming they do you proud.

5.0 out of 5 stars No water wings so only doggy paddle
Superbly written story something for every taste from tears in the eyes too shoot them up and gut shred them with a does of warped humour thrown in for good measure. Waiting for the next two books .
