About this ebook

I made a big impression on the hot new guy. Too bad it was with a volleyball to his face.

Pro tip: When you want a guy to fall for you, don't make him literally fall. Alas, it's too late to save our new chief of security, Jack Collins, from my athletic inabilities.

Lucky for me, my clumsy mistake means I spend all day (and all night) with Mister Tall, Dark and Charming, making sure he doesn't have a concussion. Turns out he's just fine, which he proves to me in the hottest way possible.

I think our connection is a one-time fling, but Jack's got other ideas. This relationship can't possibly go the distance.

Or can we really turn an embarrassing moment into forever?

Come To Me is a story set in the world of Hotel D.These short, steamy romances feature mature couples who know what they want, in the bedroom and out! Each book in the series can be read as a standalone.

Come To Me - Nika Stone

    Angie

… S o all I have to do is call them up and ask to reverse the charges? My daughter’s voice sounds hesitant. I hold back a laugh.

Exactly, Deidre. Tell them your finger slipped and you buying $70 worth of Roblox was an accident. I’m sure you can get that adjusted. She’s been on her own for a grand total of three months, and I get these calls about how to adult multiple times a week. Although I’d never say it to her face, it’s adorable.

Are you sure you can’t call them for me? This time I do chuckle. She’s cute, but no. It’s time for a little tough love, mom style.

Sweetheart, I adore you. But I’m not doing this for you.

Ugh, Mom. I can practically see the pout on her face.

Baby, you have to learn to speak up for yourself. It’ll be fine.

I pull into the Blue Meadows parking lot and find myself a spot. Then I tuck my keys into my pocket, grab my luggage and step out into the bright spring morning. I find myself frowning at the rocky landscape, in all its shades of green and tan. It’s beautiful, but there’s entirely too much nature here. I disapprove.

Regardless, my boss insists that this team building exercise is important. I don’t want to disappoint her, so I’m going along with it.

Are you there yet? Deidre’s voice in my ear startles me. I nearly forgot that she was still on the line.

    Yeah, baby girl. I’m here.

Did you remember your allergy meds, Mom? I’m amused at the way her voice turns stern. You know the woods are not your happy place.

Honey, I told you: it’s not the woods, it’s the desert. We’re down in Bend. And remind me, which one of us is the mom here?

Just saying, I’m not the one who set the tent on fire that time…

Why are you bringing up old stuff? That happened when you were four.

I’m not convinced she even remembers that disastrous camping trip. But my ex and I have both told that story so many times, it’s practically embedded in her DNA.

Because we never went camping as a family again. I can barely understand her words through the laughter. That only proves how traumatic it was.

I’m about to reply when I look across the meadow and see the world’s most beautiful man step out of a Jeep.

He’s tall, lean. Lightly tan, although it’s only March and the Pacific Northwest has been extremely cloudy for months. Dark-haired with a tinge of salt among all that pepper. Got a jawline like a steel girder. Long story short: everything about him calls to everything in me and says yes. You want this one. He’s yours.

    Mom? Are you still there?

… Yeah. Yeah, honey, I’m still here. I refocus my attention on her, and not on this instantaneous attraction. I’ve never felt anything like this before. There’s no way I should trust it. I’m sure it’s only so intense because I’ve been single for… jeez. Much longer than I want to think about.

Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome looks over at his passenger, listening closely to something they’ve said. Then he smiles.

    Oh, fuck.

Every ounce of that attraction comes back full force. That smile completely transforms his face. Where he was handsome before, now he’s gorgeous.

Mom! Dee sounds worried. What’s wrong with you?

Baby, I tell her, I’ll call you back tonight. I just met your future stepdad. Gotta go.

I ignore the frantic sputtering on the other end of the line and disconnect. She’ll be fine. But me? I need to meet him, and I need to do it now.

I take long strides over to the picnic area, where Connor Group staff from our different locations have gathered. Everyone’s mostly in clumps with folks from their own office. After scanning the crowd, I spot a few of my team members and I make my way over to them.

Hey, Ang. How was the drive? Ken, who works with me, greets me with a hug.

Good, thanks. How long have you been here?

We came down yesterday. It was great. Made record time.

I envy him that peaceful trip. I’ve been up since five am this morning, leaving Portland at the crack of dawn so I could get here on time. Sunday would’ve been a great day to drive, but we were short-staffed in Guest Services and I had to fill-in for one of my team members at the last minute. Now that I’m here, I can’t wait to check in to my room and get myself a nice long nap.

I am paying attention to Ken, I swear, but he catches my wandering eye. He looks behind us over to where my mystery man is standing and gives me a knowing smile.

I see you’ve discovered everyone’s favorite eye candy.

I blush a little. I didn’t expect him to catch me drooling over the sexy stranger.

Don’t be embarrassed, he continues. I’m pretty sure half the folks here are doing the same thing.

Who is he? I ask. I’m trying to sound casual, but from the way Ken’s smile gets even bigger, he’s not fooled.

Before he can answer, though, the two execs in charge of this retreat — Tara Jones and Todd Ikeda — call for our attention.

Good morning, everyone, Tara calls out. Welcome to Blue Meadows.

I’m impressed at how cheerful she sounds. I can only muster up that cheer under the influence of three cups of coffee. Of course, if I were standing next to my handsome fiancé like she is, I’d probably be smiling, too.

"Todd and I are so glad you were all
