4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 13 ratings

What seven traits do the most successful authors have in common? Which strategic approaches can have the most positive effect on your author career? Where should you focus your energy and effort for maximum results? How do these components work together to help you forge a powerful path through publishing?

Mark Leslie Lefebvre draws upon more than three decades of experience in writing, publishing and bookselling as well as his affinity for alliteration to highlight the importance of and provide examples of how these 7 P's (Practice, Professionalism, Patience, Progression, Persistence, Partnership, Patronage) can guide you on your writing and publishing journey.

Regardless of whether your path involves traditional publishing or indie publishing, this book will help you understand the fundamental stepping stones to publishing success.

The 7 P's is a concise primer on the basics of succeeding as an author. Written in conversational style, the book lays out implementable steps to make your way through the mire of the publishing industry. Yes, much of the information is common sense, but often one needs to hear the words from someone else to validate them, and that's exactly what this author does. There is also a lot of food for thought and small but powerful ways to impact and forward your writing career. The resource list in the back is excellent. I have already read the book twice and gleaned useful data each time.

This is a nice quick overview of all the important things to remember as you gear up to write your next book, or even if you're past the gearing up point and want to improve your skills as a published author. It's a fairly high-level overview, but with some great insights and anecdotes that inspire you to think way beyond simply what you're writing on the page. A great little read to get your creative and business minds inspired.

Great overview of how to be successful in publishing. Very well written and useful if you plan on having a career or even a part-time career in writing books. Mark's podcast "Stark Reflections on Writing and Publishing" is another great resource.

Very short. An excerpt from another endeavour, it says. However, the book this excerpt was going into doesn't exist yet ... where is it?
