Secrets in the Forest
It is nearly black out. The skies are dark with a bruised, purple horizon. If it weren’t for the stars shining across the evening sky or the pulsating flashes from the lightening bugs, it would be almost impossible to see anything. Yet off in the distance, something flickers and catches the eye. A dim light grows stronger, until finally it looks as though the center of the earth has pushed to the surface and is setting the forest ablaze. Flames dangerously close to destroying living trees, brush, vegetation, and animal life loom in the center of the woods. But travel in closer. Move along the curving trail that is guarded by century-old trees with limbs that can reach out and take you. Soon you will come upon a clearing and witness a strange scene; a secret ceremony. It is a ritual that is tradition to one group, who has protected this realm and its inhabitants for hundreds of years: The Squirrel Squad.
For centuries, these young guardians, hand-selected by the Council of Elders, are sworn to protect and safe-guard their community. For those chosen to be members of this elite team, the Squirrel Squad holds a sacred honor.
The newest team of squirrels is the youngest in the history of the Squad. Yet, unknown to them at this hour, they will soon encounter a great and terrible challenge. Can they survive it?
