Living With Doubt (The Regret Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 109 ratings

She’s hiding from everyone…

I don’t need a happily ever after filled with fake promises, animosity and eventually a divorce to be content. I’m living the dream…my dream, regardless of what anyone thinks of me. My meager life was perfect until a cocky football player wormed his way into my existence.

Once upon a time, I played an unconscious role in my own life, a mistake I have no plans of repeating. I pride myself with my outspoken and frequently excessive nature. It’s the consistent reminder of the person I refuse to become ever again.

He’s the ultimate playboy…

Life is perfect. I’ve lived and breathed football since I was a kid, and now I’m making millions playing in the NFL. I keep women around for one reason, but never the same one. The only attachments I need are family and friends but life has a bizarre way of proving a person wrong. When a concussion leaves my best-friend’s life spinning out of control, the last thing I expected was to meet an outrageous woman who leaves me begging for more.

She lives in New York.
I live in Arizona.

She promised me one night, but I discovered that’s not enough. Now, I need to figure out if I’m a pro off the field because I’m about to play the biggest game of my life.

Oh I waited and waited for this book and it did NOT disappoint in the least. Jake is even hotter in his own book than as a friend in Living With Regret. You first meet Jake and Lacey in Living With Regret and in all honesty, you don't need to read it first but it does give a background on the friendship between Jake and Chase and Lacey and Jordan. Lacey was so funny in book one but she is hysterical in her own book.

This is the story of friends of friends who first meet when Lacey goes off to Arizona to bring her best friend back to New York and tries to bring her to her senses. Lacey is the friend we all need. She's funny, she's honest and she's real. She tells it like it is and holds nothing back. She's a tough chick but underneath that toughness is a gentle woman afraid of being hurt, so she puts up an armor, hoping she can protect her heart.

Jake is a football player and an all around good guy. When he meets Lacey, he's instantly taken with her. He's also going through some career troubles. He's not as young as when he first started playing football. He's looking to finish out his career in Arizona but can he make it work with Lacey who lives in New York.

When they finally connect can their relationship make it through a near 3,000 mile distance? Do they even want to make it work? When they connect it's hot and when they fight it's even hotter. This is one great romance and one that will last a lifetime if only they can get past their inner turmoil and career choices to go the distance.

Another home run for this author. Every book she writes is better than the last. Honestly, I say it all the time, I'd probably find her grocery list interesting!

I absolutely adored the first book in this series and had high hopes for this one too.

It's a good story but I much prefer the first one. I found lacey a bit too obnoxious at times and sometimes disliked her character. Her story explains why she is the way she is to an extent.

Good book though and worth reading x

    HOLY NFL PLAYER!!
SEXY, AMAZING, STEAMY & WOWSERS!! That's how I would describe Living with Doubt. It was a roller coaster ride of emotions throughout this book and I FLOVED IT!
So much happens as we are taken on the journey of Jake & Lacey. We first met Jake and Lacey in Living with Regret and this is their story to tell.
Jake is Chase Adams best mate and his football team member who discovers Lacey by accident when she knocks on Chases door. While I wouldn't call Jake a player, he isn't interested in a relationship.... one night is more than enough ever since being burned by his fiancé years earlier. That is until he meets Lacey, she intrigues him and has got under his skin.
Lacey is Jordan's best friend and she has a past that has left her scarred and emotionally burnt. she too avoids the chance of falling for someone at all
Costs, putting on a bitchy facade that borders on a hothead but there's something about Jake that has her heart beating again and stirring feelings that have been buried years ago. Lacey has such a fiery attitude saying exactly what she thinks but at the same time what no one realises is she is also vulnerable, hiding a hurt and pain next to no one is aware of...
Once I started this book it was impossible to put down. This author has the ability to drag you right into the book and make you feel the characters and what they are going through.
Lacey tugged at my heart strings when she showed her compassion by putting everything on the line by trying to save a homeless mans granddaughter from the foster home that wasn't getting the attention from authorities it deserved. And yes without giving away spoilers I was brought to tears.... BUT they were happy tears! This book has it ALL!
Both Jake and Lacey are fighting their feelings for each other believing they can get each other out of their system and move on but life has a different path for them to follow......

    Finally the end up together

Loved this second book of the series. Riann’s writing style is addictive and so easy to read.

I instantly adored Lacey when she first appeared in Living with Regret. Her outspokenness and attitude was great and I loved the bitchiness she threw out there, especially towards Chase. But it was Jake who loved it even more.

I’m glad that Jake was brought back into the series from book one. His cockiness, humor and attitude is the perfect balance to Lacey’s boldness. She claims to just be a bitch but Jake saw through that facade right away.

Secrets and walls are what keeps these two apart and it’s Lacey who is purposely pushing him away. Events from her past have built the walls around her heart to keep men, especially men like Jake, out of her heart and life but there’s just something about him.

I’m so glad this author continued the series with these two characters because I instantly loved the parts they played in the first book. Now I’m just hoping there’s a third in there so Caleb can find his happily ever after.

We meet Lacey and Jake in Living With Regret, Lacey is Jordan's friend and Jake is Chases.

You know these two were going to be hot and hit it off, but not without difficulties as Lacey is one stubborn woman and breaking her defences is difficult, but Jake seems more than willing to accept the challenge.

The relationship between Lacey and Jake isn't easy, but there is something there that is undeniable, but Lacey's past stops her from giving Jake herself and heart completely, and with Jake also having a difficult past it's hard for them to move on until they let go and give in to each other.

I liked this book, but I did prefer Jordan and Chase's story.
