    Missing Pieces

    by Ximena Escobar

    And suddenly

    all that was left

    was the ice cold exposure

    in the hollow

    of my broken self

I only wanted to show you

    each fragment

    every side

    every angle, all those

    pieces of me,

    the shiny minerals,

    hidden in my bones

    I never felt colder

    than in the shadow

    of your blindness,

    sat beside

    my plaster cast ruins,

    ruins of nothing

    but an empty exterior

    so untrue

    so unloved, I had long

    evicted

    my body

    for there
