From USA Today bestselling author Rebecca Hefner

A new era dawns as ancient threats emerge…

Tordor, son of Queen Miranda and King Sathan, was born to inherit the immortal throne. But deep within, he feels a calling to help his people in other ways. As their imminent immersion with the humans looms, he joins a clandestine team to offer his skills.

Esmerelda, daughter of Elf King Dakath, has spent centuries evading her father’s cruelty. Striving to create peace, she leads the team that will approach the humans after the destruction of the ether. Having the kind, diplomatic immortal heir on her team is a fortunate bonus.

As Esme and Tor work together to unify the realms, Dakath’s interference intensifies, reinforcing Esme’s vow to remain free of close bonds. Even if the handsome prince is determined to break through her walls and claim her as his immortal mate…

Can Tordor push past Esme’s fears, or will her father destroy their future before it’s begun?

Welcome back to Etherya’s Earth! If you love a sizzling friends-to-lovers tale with a badass, tormented heroine and a hot prince determined to claim her, this book is for you! Enjoy the journey!

Esme's father continues to poison hybrid elves and torture Esme by killing anyone she gets close to. Dakath goes to meet Esme at their compound in Pa. He attacks Tor and Evie brings him back to Uteria for healing. Tor is coronated as the King of the human realm and Esme finally decides to marry him in the future. They have now learned of unknown beings called nymphs with violet eyes. Lila and adopted daughter both have violet eyes and the daughter wants to track her origins.

I was very skeptical going into this one thinking it was going to be exactly like the others. While there were similar themes, we're mates but one of the parties keeps denying it/running from it for whatever reasons. It's a little predictable but I did enjoy this story! It was an easy listen and Esme and Tordor's story was super sweet and romantic!!! The only issue I have are the voices for some characters changing. Why does Tordor sound like an old man? He sounds older than Latimus and Saythen. I do love how the author intertwines everyone's stories. You get a little glimpse here and there. I also enjoy the multiple POVs. It's nice knowing what the other party is thinking. I still enjoy these series and have come to love the characters as they are further developed!

Slayers, Vampyers, and Daemons. Oh My. Now throw in Elves. As Rebecca is slowly introducing the Immortal races of Etherya. As I was reading this one, there was mention of another immortal race in the scrolls, called Nymphs. The elves have been living among humans for centuries. This book was about Prince Tordor, the Vampyre-Slayer hybrid son of King Sathan and Queen Miranda, while we were introduced to Esme the elven-human hybrid daughter of the Elven King.

I loved Tordor and Esme's story. It was pathetic the hatred her father had for her. She endured a life on the run and in solitude for fear of her friends' lives. Tordor held steadfast to their friendship and love. There were many twists and turns in this audiobook. Narrated well by Zachary Zaba.

I’ve enjoyed this series of books very much and like any other collections I’ve had some that are my favorites and some that are not so much. I found that this one falls into the latter.

Tordor is sweet and Esme is a spitfire which is something I usually enjoy when reading but their story in particular was not very appealing to me. I would’ve wanted something more.

Tor and Esme are an unlikely couple. Especially since Esme has sworn off relationships, but through Tor's determination, they finally get their happy ever after. I love reading the stories of the next generation in this series and look forward to more.

The Diplomatic Heir gives us Tordor and Esme's story. Now that the barrier is broken between the mortal and immortal world Tor and Esme is on a journey to slowly find ways to integrate the two species. However, father Dakath has other plans because he believes in keeping the Elven bloodline pure. The more time Tor and Esme spends together the more their feelings develop and the higher the threat from her father. After all, he has shown his hands more than once. I absolutely enjoyed Tor and Esme's story and I also enjoyed his parent's reaction to him growing not only as their son but as a man who knows what he wants and their support for him is endless. I love Miranda and Sathan and their surprise; they definitely make me smile with their actions and antics throughout this story. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
