3.5 out of 4 This was a different mystery, even though this is the third book, I'm used to the formula that has been established in the first two books. Amy is not working with Ambrose in this one, instead she is on her own. However, it is obvious that she has been paying attention and is willing to work on solving the case without Ambrose to help her. The romance between the pair definitely goes up in this one, but it was nice to see. I enjoyed seeing her spend time with her friend's outside of Ambrose, so I'm all for bringing the bonds of her friends in. It was a different read but still interesting. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved the fact that despite everybody else having doubts Amy never once waivered in her belief in the innocence of Ambrose. But will she and the others at PPD be able to find the truth before it is too late or will Ambrose pay for a crime he did not commit. Lucky for Ambrose Amy is as stubborn as she is determined to see him released and his name cleared. She enlists the help of Dean, a fellow PPD detective but then the tables are turned on poor Dean. What is going on and who is behind it? The odd (pun fully intended) appearance from Grammie just bring so much character and humour to the book and we get to know more about some of the characters who have featured, however briefly, in the previous books as well as meeting some new ones, Amy's very colourful sister, Topaz, being one. I am impressed by the author's ability to keep the characters consistent throughout the series thus far and also the arc of Ambrose and Amy and their budding relationship. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

They just can't seem to catch a break. Ambrose is accused of murder and Amy is determined to prove he's innocent. There is a lot of circumstantial evidence but nothing factual. With all of Amy's efforts, she finally convinces Dean to become a believer as well and he's accused of the murders and things are back to square one!! It's finally determined it's an inside job and have it narrowed down to two people. They wind up catching the killer but there's a huge price to pay. Oh, and don't let me forget that Amy's sister Topaz appears and winds up getting arrested for using magic in public. There are twists and turns in this whodunit with the slow burn of a building romance. A great way to just escape.
