Wand maker Amethyst (Amy) finally gets her big break when Detective Ambrose approaches her about a sliver of wood found at a crime scene. She has wanted in on the Paranormal Police Department (PPD) for as long as she can remember. You will love the way Amy and Ambrose get along and the quirkiness of her character (her familiar is a gargoyle!). All while solving crime and kinda liking each other. Looking forward to the next book. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This series seems to be like a "Nancy Drew Mysteries", but with the paranormal twist. In this first book we have Amy who has always wanted to join the PPD but was denied. Now a Detective Ambrose has come to ask for help. Of course, she is all snarky, especially the way her day has gone. Will she answer his questions Will he give her a chance to help? This is what she has been wanting, but will it happen? I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Amethyst and Ambrose are quite the crime-solving pair. She is the quirky witch who is smarter and more capable than she thinks. He is the stoic detective who is a stickler for rules, her not so much. They partner up to solve the murder of a beloved member of the witch community. It turns out to be quite a mystery to solve. What keeps you reading is their back and forth banter that is both witty and revealing. They keep the story progressing and even made me chuckle out loud a few times. Hexes and Vexes (Amethyst's Wand Shop Mysteries #1) is the first book in this series. It is a great start and has me already looking for the next book in the series, Witches and Stitches. It seems that the books may be standalone. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
