About this ebook

Discover Amethyst's Wand Shop Mysteries, an urban fantasy murder mystery series with a quirky witch, a serious detective, a slow burn romantic sub-plot, and plenty of murders to solve.

A clash with the Centre For Wand Control leads to more problems than Amy wants to handle.

Amethyst likes to do things her own way, even when that means being suspended by the Centre for Wand Control when she uses a material she shouldn't when making wands, ending up with her Grammie's wand making license being suspended.

But Amy is determined to put it right, even if she has to go toe to toe with the CWC and prove that sea glass isn't an unstable component of wands.

Can she get the suspension lifted?

Sassy Witch The second part of this book's title is absolutely spot-on. Amethyst, a wand-making witch who wants to be in the Paranormal Police Department, is sassy right out of the gate, thinking and saying some highly amusing things that show her attitude. I have read this author for some time and enjoy her snappy writing style. I was a bit taken aback when reading this very brief novella (approximately 12K words) when I stumbled on some profanity. I don't recall reading profanity in this author's works before—though I certainly haven't read all of them as I am not into academy fiction, of which she writes a lot. The A-word is used once, the S-word twice, and the F-bomb twice. Admittedly, that's not a lot, but I just don't like reading profanity in books; it pulls me right out of the story. I prefer authors to warn about swearing in the book's description so I can opt not to read a book with profanity. Frankly, this young woman was sassy enough without needing to resort to common blue words. This book sets up the series by showing Amethyst's first run-in with the Centre of Wand Control. Despite the profanity, I am looking forward to other books in the series. I just hope the author eschews it, but I have at least been forewarned now. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

This is the where we find out Amethyst's beginnings of trying to join the Magical PD, why she was rejected and the trouble she got herself into with the CWC by using sea glass in her wand which was not an approved conductor. I got to know and love her quirkiness in the first book in the series and I really enjoyed getting more of her back story in this book. The author has created a character that is full of personality who you will absolutely adore. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have to say that I enjoy reading books that are mysteries with magical elements to them. This one hit all the right places in terms of being a book that I enjoyed. The world building was great and I got a good feel Amethyst and Grammie. I loved that Amy realizes that she made a mistake and wants to be able to fix it, while this was only a novella it was great to have a quick intro. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
