About this ebook

Is learning the art of mummification everything Dhara wants it to be?

After Dhara is chosen as one of the newest apprentices at the London Temple of Anubis, she's thrown into life at the temples, from learning about embalming, to the protective amulets used for the dead.

With the help of her mentor, she learns precisely what she needs in order to make it to ordination and to become a full Priestess Of Anubis.

Duty To The Dead is a standalone companion story to The Apprentice Of Anubis series, an urban fantasy set in an alternative version of London where the Egyptian Empire never fell. Duty To The Dead can be read as a standalone. The events take place during the events of Death Of The Pharaoh through to Court Of The Queen.

If you love Egyptian mythology, alternative versions of the modern day, temple politics, and slow-burn workplace romance, then start the Apprentice Of Anubis series today with Apprentice Of The Dead.

Gleeful Goblin Review: Story is single POV from the FMC perspective and focuses on her journey as an apprentice and budding romance with a workplace colleague and there's a bright eyed wonder that our FMC has that I found utterly charming. While the setting of The Temple might be unfamiliar (in a good way!) the beats to the story of earnest young love and tentatively figuring out who you are when starting your life path as an adult those are familiar and executed well. The story is short, sweet, and definitely makes me want to read other books in this world and series! 5/5 Stars

I loved the characters in this book, both the new and the familiar. They are always fascinating and well written. These stories and their characters bring this world to life and give more insight into the life in the temple, and I'm thrilled that Ms. Greenwood has chosen to write them. This is not only a story about the prospective priest, or in this case priestess, it's also a love story that involves a character that is already known. Some fun and even funny situations, and maybe a little bit

Myths live on in this series. I would recommend reading the main storyline first as events from the main story are referenced here. This book is a fun departure from books I normally read and I enjoyed learning a little about Egyptian myths. The mummification had a bit of a Bones feel if Bones happened a very long time ago. The couple was well suited for each other with Dhara being inquisitive and Hannu being patient. Overall a good book and a quick read.
