About this ebook

Grief and power were always going to go hand in hand for the heir to the Empire, but that doesn't mean Iset is prepared.

When Iset discovers her father is sick, she has to come to terms with exactly what that means, including the possibility that she'll be ruling an empire much sooner than she expected to be.

After the worst news she can imagine, Iset isn't sure she has what it takes to organise mummification, and funerals, as well as juggle the politics of becoming the new Pharaoh.

But with her Sekhmet Blessed bodyguard by her side, perhaps she stands a chance.

Iset thought she would have more time to learn at her father's knee. But that's not the way things work out. She manages her grief with the comfort of her guard, and friend, Nasrehi. Turns out that her father took a lot of things into consideration regarding his beloved daughter. A sweet story centered around a doting father, loving daughter and gentle protector with his Blessed lioness. Her brother posed a minor threat for a heartbeat but that fizzled. Voluntary review thru Booksprout freebie.

Iset is prepared to be co-regent with her father but his illness will propel her to a position she thought she had years to prepare for. The pharaohs are often portrayed as emotionless icons of ancient power. This story shows them as more human with lives affected by love, loss, grief, and uncertainty. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.
