A man from Raedrick Baletier and Julian Hinderbrook's past turns up on the outskirts of Lydelton, nearly dead from exposure and telling of an injured comrade on the flanks of Tollard's Peak, the tallest mountain in the region.

Despite the harsh winter conditions, the constables form a rescue party and set off to find the injured man.
