Eleanor Thorne

Eleanor Thorne is the pseudonym of an atmospheric scientist on the Gulf Coast, near the landfall location of Hurricane Katrina. A native of the Southeast United States, she has experienced hurricanes and tornadoes for as long as she can remember and has been fascinated with hypercanes since graduate school. She has worked with the National Weather Service, Environmental Protection Agency, environmental nonprofits, and in national politics.
She is a classical liberal, a cat person, a baseball fan, and enjoys a nice walk on the beach.
As The Inheritors makes clear, she doesn’t like infotainment, pseudo-populism, or political extremism that much. She thinks real, serious (and really serious) problems call for real, serious solutions, and that such problems should not be opportunities for would-be social engineers to try to remake real people’s lives by force and deceit.
In addition to being a scientist, she has also dreamed of being a novelist since she was seven years old. The Inheritors is her first novel.
