Eleanor Lian
AUTHOR WRITER SCREENWRITER
Eleonora Baliani, known by her pen name Eleanor Lian, is an Italian author and screenwriter, with her head in stories and her heart suspended among the clouds. Born in Genoa in 1980, she trained in theatre, cinema, and writing, studying under renowned masters such as Giancarlo Giannini, Pupi Avati, and Romano Scavolini.
For years she taught acting and creative writing while beginning her career as a screenwriter for both Italian and international productions. Among her works is E poi… tutti giù per terra, screened at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.
In 2019, she made her literary debut with La Sfida di Aileen, followed by the fantasy novel Maira e il Lago di Cera.
In 2024, she entered the London-based “Roberto Calvo Productions” as an international author, adopting the pseudonym Eleanor Lian. With the same publishing house, she released The Clown and the Ice Castle, published in both Italian and English and submitted to the 2025 Premio Strega and the Booker Prize.
2025 sees the arrival of Bein and the World of Colors—a repeated Amazon bestseller in the “most gifted” category—and Sigillum Maximum – The Seal of the Seven Secrets, also destined for a web-novel adaptation.
