Murder. Drugs. Corruption. All of the above? What's your pleasure?

Solving her first big case surprised everyone, including herself. Carin's goal was to leave the small town for the big leagues of detective circles. The inexperienced detective knew the publicity from The Nursing Home Murders was her ticket out of Marble Grove. After becoming intimate with the dank underbelly of her adopted town, Carin decided to stay. She is determined to unwrap the town's twisted history. Marble Grove is a town masking a decades-long web of deceit and corruption under an idyllic image.

"One of those DNA tests will tell you what you want to know. They run specials all the time. For fifty bucks, you can learn things you probably don't want to know."

Just when she thinks she's hit a dead end, Todd Davison enters her world.

"We've all had to have someone else rip off the bandage that we could not take care of ourselves. Sometimes, the pain of losing a few hairs keeps us from knowing the wound is healing. What is the cost of learning the truth? As Carin struggles with her inner demons, will Todd be able to handle the night terrors?

About the author

R C Ducantlin

Two people sparked my interest in reading in secondary school, high school to the Americans, a close friend, and an instructor. The instructor took an interest in a boy he later called ‘The rebel without a clue.’ He was instrumental in learning the value of an enjoyable book.

The instructor required me to read exciting historical novels for academic credit. Frank Norris, Leon Uris, and Ken Follett inspire and fuel my love of history. My lifelong friend encouraged me to read J. R. R. Tolkien, and I became addicted to fantasy.

Born to a military family, it was logical that I follow the military tradition. However, after four years of “yes sirs” and scraping the wax off floors, I decided there must be more fun in a corporate career.
After forty-plus years of work experience across the globe, I landed in Colorado.
