Jim Garlits is an overgrown Boy Scout with residual ADHD. His ultimate goal involves writing, early retirement in a Class C RV, and a continuous circuit of thru-hikes and long distance bike treks until he turns 100, at which point he’s going to try for a spot in the Senior X Games. His five-year plan is to complete a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail with his oldest son, a post-traumatic OEF combat medic and safety manager for the largest online retailer in the world. For now, he hikes in the woods, rides his bike on converted rail trails, and camps in a hammock.
He and his wife Tawnya have four grown children and live in Manassas, Virginia.
