As a professional sailor, writer, scientist, and life-long gamer, writing nautical and RPG tie-in fantasy came naturally for Chris.  His Scimitar Seas novels (Dragon Moon Press) won multiple gold medals from Foreword Reviews Magazine, and his Pathfinder Tales (Paizo Publishing) have received high praise and are fan favorites. Though he’s built a reputation writing pirate stories, his Weapon of Flesh series about a magical assassin has hit the Kindle bestseller list several times, culminating with the sixth novel, Weapon of Mercy. Chris has also branched into other genres including horror with his novella The Deep Gate, a tie-in story for the Arkham Horror game (Fantasy Flight Games), and satirical science fiction with his Cheese Runners trilogy of novellas. His shorter fiction has appeared in the Shadowrun (Catalyst Game Labs) anthologies World of Shadows and Drawing Destiny, Women in Practical Armor (Evil Girlfriend Media), and numerous other anthologies. He also penned a six-chapter story serialized in the Legendary Planets Adventure Path (Legendary Games).

A life-long roamer, Chris currently splits his time between the Caribbean, where he and his wife, Anne, live and cruise on their sailboat Mr Mac, and the mountains of western North Carolina.
