Twenty-seven-year-old Charlotte Brown is visiting the UK for the first time, and she's alone, much to her parents' dismay. Since her grandmother's death, she's come to realize how fragile life really is and how quickly it's over. She dreams of a family of her own, and she's ready to take bold steps to change her mundane path.

In an effort to prove to herself that she can conjure bravery and have the life she's always wanted, she faces the bitterly cold streets of London alone. But when she meets Jake, a well-dressed, funky sock-wearing American, she's thrown off her carefully wrought tracks. Charlotte has her whole trip planned to the hour, but her serendipitous run-in with Jake makes her wonder what else she's been missing. The two help each other decide what's more important—a well-planned life or one that's chosen by their hearts.

About the author

Vanessa K. Eccles

Vanessa K. Eccles is the creator of lovely and terrifying creatures. In the search for beautifully broken characters, she’s not afraid to delve into the dark side of humanity and fantasy to find the most authentic and relatable monsters, reminding us all that we are each fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

When asked about herself, she often uses the term literary wanderer. She has a variety of writing and editing experience, from running three of her own publications to editing anthologies to novel writing.
