Since his childhood, Rameshbhai Mehta has been associated with the Rashtriya Swaymsevak Sangh since childhood i.e. from the age of 5 years to be precise. He was born in Amreli, Saurashtra in the pre-independence era. At every step in life, he was guided by the Sangh, and so it is even today. A septuagenarian, Rameshbhai exudes a zeal that would put youth half his age to shame. Having done his Masters in History, he has a special perspective of it. As a student, he had asked why the uprising of 1857 was called a 'rebellion', and this one instance should suffice to illustrate the above point.

Rameshbhai discharges remarkably well any and every responsibility that the Sangh entrusts him with. The Sanghchalak of Parlanagar, the President of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad - Mumbai city, the Coordinator of the 'Vishwa Vibhag' (overseas wing) of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the President of the 'Sewa International', are some of the important posts that he has adorned. Currently, Rameshbhai is the Trustee of the 'Sewa International', an organisation inspired by and working under the aegis of the Sangh and operating in 18 countries.
