He shook my hand as he looked me up and down, his expression spellbound. "You look absolutely gorgeous!"

A shiver ran through my anxious body that was already rattled with anticipation. "Thank you, Declan."

We took our seats and I opened the embroidered cloth napkin on my lap, seriously hoping I wouldn't break any "fancy dining" etiquette tonight.

"This place is so nice," I said. "I don't think I've ever been anywhere like it."

He waved his hand nonchalantly. "Ah, I've seen much nicer."

I smiled. "I'm sure you have."

He reached across the table and put his hand over mine. I felt a shock at his touch, and shyly raised my eyes to meet his gaze. His face looked impossibly handsome under the light of the candle. The gentle wave of the flame cast a golden hue to his skin, highlighting his dark features.

"Red or white?"

My heart was all a-flutter. "Uh, w-what?"

"Wine. Do you prefer red or white? Or, we can have champagne if you like."

"Oh, um, red please."
