Born under a rock in Northern Ontario at Sault Ste. Marie, Derek spent much of his adult life as a renaissance scoundrel, musician, actor or staging technician. He studied both, Theatre Tech and later, Film Studies, at Ryerson University in Toronto, now (Toronto Metropolitan University). Derek Stephen McPhail currently resides in the charming village of Mindemoya on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada, where he focuses on screenwriting.
