Mark is the even-tempered pack leader for the territory surrounding Riverton, the sleepy cousin of Creekside Township. He's been the leader for over 25 years. The pack is his life. He is a legacy leader, taking over after his sire decided he needed to retire.

During a trip into Riverton for supplies, Mark comes to the rescue of a young Omega male named Reese who is struggling to simply get home to Creekside after a shopping trip.

Reese grew up in Creekside, raising his brother, Harlan from the time Harlan was sixteen. Recently, Reese has suffered through a series of loses that have left him depressed and lonely.

He knows he shouldn't have been out in his old car with snow in the forecast. But he has a reason for wanting organic berries and farm eggs he can only find in Riverton.

While giving Reese a ride home, Mark makes a startling discovery. How he chooses to proceed will affect both of their lives. But will sacrifices need to be made?
