During the unforgiving time of the Armenian genocide, Louise Hoogoian Asadurian just barely turned five years old. Her first taste of the world's brutality was witnessing her family murdered and divided at the first strike of the genocide clock. Barely surviving the vicious onslaught, she was traded and succumbed to a life of slavery. Yet, she still held on to faith, while living in the land of the 'enemy'.

With a twist of fate, she found herself on a boat to America where she is to be reunited with her father. However, the reunion will be short-lived, as she would be wed to a man 30 years her senior at the tender age of 14. This unexpected union proved to be a rewarding life partnership, which took her bittersweet life journey into a rewarding destination.

In her own words, through an interview before her passing in 1995, Loussintak or Louise recounted her life of faith that was tested during the height of the Armenian genocide, through her exodus to the New World, and in her very own family legacy, as compiled and narrated by her youngest grandson, Duke Vega-Smith.
