Gary Swaby is a blogger and winner of the 2015 Floella Benjamin Achievement Award. He currently lives in Luton, England.

After suffering with sickle cell anemia—a lifelong disease that only affects a small minority—throughout his youth; he quickly realized that most people didn’t understand him or what he was going through. Feeling alienated, Gary gravitated towards movies, video games books, and computers. During moments of pain and recovery, Gary spent a lot of time daydreaming.

When Gary was older, he quickly realized that all the times he spent daydreaming was a sign that he was meant to write. He couldn’t let his ideas go to waste any longer.
