Tamta Melashvili is an activist, researcher and award-winning writer. Her first novel Counting Out (2010), brought recognition to the author as a new and exceptional voice of contemporary Georgian literature. It received the main Georgian literary award SABA. The German translation was granted Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis.  
Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry became a bestselling text that also got SABA Award in 2021. Cinematic adaptation of the novel with the same title, directed by Elene Naveriani shared its creative success. Melashvili addresses the issues of trauma, inequalities, sexuality, and power in her prose.
