Losing both Mum and Dad this year has been tough and as much as I’d love to sit and wallow in my misery this Christmas, my brother has invited me to spend the holiday with him and his in-laws…and his best friend. I have been crushing on Jake Partridge since I was old enough to notice boys. He is everything I am not and the only one I’ve ever really wanted. Now I have to navigate holiday socialising and my brother’s perfect family, as well as sharing space with Jake and trying not to be a giant Christmas bauble of awkwardness.

But seeing her now, surrounded by her brother and his family she seems to be back to the blushing beauty she was back then. I’m desperate to see the other side, the one she shows to the world, the one far more daring and seductive. My best friend’s little sister should be off limits, but spending so much time with her is making Nel the gift I want to unwrap this Christmas.
