Benjamin Ray was born to a middle-class Jewish family in New Haven, Connecticut. His father of him, Ray senior, the son of Jewish immigrants from Poland, served in the US Army during World War II.
Ray senior was a prominent figure in the US tax protester movement. He died in federal prison in July 2012 while he was serving a sentence of at least 15 years for tax evasion.
His parents divorced when he was young, and he moved around the country with his mother and his brother, Tom, from Oregon to Manhattan to Florida and finally Southern California. He credits his father for introducing him to the English School of economic thought.
Benjamin Ray began his career as a stockbroker at a Lehman Brothers brokerage in 1992.
In 1998, Benjamin Ray Bears and a partner acquired an inactive brokerage firm, renamed it, and began operating it from a small office in San Francisco, relocating the firm to Oregon, in 2002, and later to Massachusetts where it is currently headquartered, with branch offices across the US in Arizona, Oregon, Manhattan, San Francisco, and New York City.
Benjamin Ray founded a lot of Bank and is an options trading expert.
