In the heart of Marrakech a bomb explodes, killing thirty British and American tourists instantly. The same day local authorities arrest a suspect, a young man called Rachid Mansour. It's an open-and-shut case, the Moroccans say and no one can blame them for thinking so. Nevertheless, Secret Agent Kate Davenport is sent to Marrakech to investigate further. A bright and experienced agent, it's her job to look at things from a different perspective.

Soon Kate discovers that there's more to the case than meets the eye. Accompanied by a local agent she travels from the ancient medina of Marrakech to the Atlantic coast and the Sahara desert. The more she discovers, the clearer it becomes that not everybody in this predominantly male culture is happy with her presence. It doesn't faze strong and fiercely independent Kate though. Calmly and diligently she keeps working, slowly unraveling a dangerous conspiracy.
