Enrique Cordero

Meet the Author
Enrique A. Cordero was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1952 and spent most of his adult life in Tampa, Florida. Often reserved and introspective, he’s also spontaneous. One day, long before the inception of computer dating, he placed a personal ad in Creative Loafing Magazine, and Mary answered it. Six weeks later, they eloped to the Hillsborough County Courthouse and then enjoyed their first breakfast together as Mr. and Mrs. Cordero at Bob Evans Restaurant. That was over twenty-eight years ago!
When he’s not writing, Enrique enjoys family time, shows about supernatural topics, and British comedy. His affinity for quirky British humor explains why he’s delightfully wacky at times! He is a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan who enjoys playing the tumbadoras, bongos, guitar, singing karaoke, and dancing with his wife. Other relaxing interests include oil painting, graphic art, and photography. He loves stormy weather, and if it’s not lightning, he and Mary enjoy long walks in the rain.
Education and Professional Background
Cordero’s family history of spiritual, esoteric, and occult practices and studies spans many generations. As a result, he began studying these subjects at age fifteen. He continued learning the systems and rituals of the Kabbalah, ceremonial magick, Witchcraft, spiritualism, and Rosicrucianism. He also spent several years doing participant-observation studies on the Afro-Caribbean religions, known as Orisha (also known as Santeria) and Palo Mayombe.
Enrique became a respiratory therapist in 1973, then earned a degree in anthropology from the University of South Florida, Tampa. During his anthropological training, two focal points of attraction summoned him—religion and medical anthropology. He was also drawn to other empirical sciences and social and behavioral studies. Enrique continues to research and study religion and spirituality from a cross-cultural perspective.
Body, Mind, and Spirit
In the mid-1990s, Cordero took a temporary sabbatical from the traditional health care system to pursue studies in alternative healing methods and became a Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Master and a Karuna® Reiki Master. Other studies included the effects of sound, pranic healing, auric healing, chakra balancing and healing, and various other forms of energy and spiritual work. He eventually earned certifications in reflexology, hypnotherapy, and chromotherapy and taught certification classes in Reiki, The Human Aura, and Sacred Emanations and Words of Power. His teaching platform also provided an opportunity to practice spiritual counseling.
In 2001, Enrique became ill and underwent a nearing-death experience during his two weeks on a ventilator. Within a year of his complete recovery, he returned to the healthcare field—this time, with an entirely different perspective. Cordero recognized the need to integrate holistic practices into Western therapies—treating the body, mind, and spirit. With his renewed vigor and conviction, he successfully melded the Western and Eastern patient care philosophies into his respiratory care practice until his retirement in 2018, when he began writing.
His Literary Side
The author wrote his first two books from a dual perspective: the caregiver of critically ill patients and the patient himself. Richter Publishing awarded him first prize in their 2020 Quarantined Writing Contest for his book, It’s Hard to Die!: “Do I Hold On or Do I Let Go?” https://youtu.be/dVHBLjYc8Y0. He also authored Now That I Am Dead: What I Should Know at the End of Life, and as a former Reiki instructor and energy work practitioner, he wrote How Reiki Can Change Your Life: A Sourcebook for Students, Practitioners, and Reiki Teachers.
Follow him! Cordero’s future books will delve more deeply into paranormal topics such as spiritual, esoteric, ceremonial magick, and occult subjects. His upcoming release explains how languages, words, and sounds are used in ritual and ceremonial practices.
