About the author

Michael Fowler

Born in 1957, Michael grew up in the once industrial heartland of South Yorkshire, where he still lives, with his wife and two sons.

He served as a police officer for thirty-two years, both in uniform and in plain clothes, working in CID, Vice Squad and Drug Squad.  He retired in 2006, in the rank of Inspector, finishing his career in charge of a busy CID Department.

Always an avid reader, he began his journey into writing whilst at primary school, emulating the adventure stories of Enid Blyton.  As he developed his writing, he experimented with many different genres of work until he discovered the 87th Precinct novels written by Ed McBain.  He devoured each and every one of his books and became hooked on writing crime.  Experiences from his life as a cop fuelled his stories and he spent much of his time off duty honing his craft as a writer of crime.

Upon his retirement he began drafting the novel he had always promised himself he would write, and in 2010 his debut crime novel ‘Heart of the Demon,’ featuring Detective Sergeant Hunter Kerr, was released.

He now writes and paints full-time in his studio and his work can be seen on his web-site at www.mjfowler.co.uk
