Joyce Derenas writes historical fiction based on extensive primary research of the real lives of her ancestors from Southern Quebec while she was in Ottawa at the National Archives of Canada, and while in the Yukon at the Yukon Archives in Whitehorse, and the Dawson Museum in Dawson. Each story includes rich details of life in the harsh Yukon. This particular photobook was a happy distraction that grew out of a love of French pastries.
