Lily Radford's life is dedicated to revenge. Nothing else matters. In order to do what must be done, she plays the part of a proper Southern lady hiding from the war on the island of New Providence with her lover, the notorious blockade runner Captain Sherwood. The last thing she needs is to be distracted by a handsome ne'er-do-well gambler who seems determined to turn her world upside down.

Quintin Tyler plays his part as well as Lily, a woman who too soon makes him question his reasons for being in Nassau. Befriending her is the perfect way to get to Captain Sherwood, but he quickly doubts the authenticity of the seemingly flighty woman. There's more to her than meets the eye.

Civil War is tearing the country apart, and nothing can change the fact that Lily and Quint are fighting, each in their own way, for opposite sides. Is their love strong enough to save them? Secrets and loyalties threaten to tear them apart. Can they put it all aside to willingly place themselves in enemy hands?

About the author

Linda Winstead Jones

After publishing more than eighty books, I’ve finally admitted to myself that I just can’t make up my mind about what, exactly, I want to write. Since 1994 I’ve written romance in several different sub-genres. Historical; fairy tale; romantic suspense; paranormal; fantasy; contemporary. As so many authors do, I write what speaks to me in that moment. Who knows what will come next?

Whatever the genre, I believe the perfect romance should provide a tear and a couple of laughs, a chill or two, and by the time the story is over, the reader should be left with a smile and the feeling that all is right with the world in that moment.
