The Collapse. Otherwise known as the fall of civilization as we know it. You’d think it would’ve taken a lot longer for people to turn on each other. But humans will do anything and everything in order to sustain the level of life they expect for themselves. This includes less than savoury jobs becoming more and more common. Robbery. Assault. Babies being traded as a commodity.
Mila has managed to stay out of reach of the blackmarket breeders – the Kingsnakes – by living on her own in the woods. But a routine trip to the city for supplies has her life of solitude changing in ways she never expected – and never wanted.
Ray never wanted to be in the Kingsnakes. But caring for his two young sisters, and making sure they avoid the same fate as his captives means he has to take extreme measures. Bit by bit, he chips away at his soul, making sure the two lives relying on him have food on the table.
But when Mila shows up at the Kingsnakes’ headquarters, are either of them able to keep it together – for their own safety, and even their futures?
