David G Maillu

"I stand as the most published author on the African continent," says David Gian Maillu who is regarded as Kenya’s Father (and Mother!) of Popular Literature. “My ability to write, edit and design enabled me to launch and operate a successful publishing career.”
Dr Maillu (he says he holds a Doctor of Letters degree in African Literature and Political Philosophy from St Clements University of south Australia!),who also doubles up as a painter, musician, poet, playwright, palmist, philosopher and theologian, writes in Kikamba, Kiswahili, Sheng and English.
Maillu’s first book, published in 1969, was a children's short story anthology titled Kisalu and His Fruit Garden; the second was Ki kyambonie; the third Unfit for Human Consumption and the fourth, that catapulted Maillu to fame, My Dear Bottle.
