About the author

Dianna Deeney

Dianna Deeney is a quality advocate for product development with over 25 years of experience in manufacturing, product design, quality and reliability engineering, and cross-functional leadership. As president of Deeney Enterprises and founder of Quality During Design, she works with product design managers and engineers to help them deliver products that are dependable, easy to use, and on time—without endless design rework.

She built the Quality During Design platform to make quality principles part of the conversation from the very start of a project. That means fewer misunderstandings, less backtracking, and more products customers love. The platform includes the Quality During Design podcast, online resources, practical training like her Udemy course, FMEA in Practice: From Plan to Risk-Based Thinking, and consulting for businesses that want to strengthen their development process.

Deeney’s career took her from the manufacturing floor to process engineering, product design, and quality management systems. Along the way, she earned recognition as an IEEE senior member—a distinction held by just 10% of members—and ASQ certifications as a CQE, CRE, CQA, and CMQ/OE. She’s a contributing author to Quality Disrupted and AccendoReliability.com, and her insights have appeared in CERM Risk Insights e-zine, industry podcasts, and talks on topics ranging from AI in design to the social dynamics that shape engineering decisions.

She lives in southeastern Pennsylvania with her family and dog, taking every chance to head to the mountains, the shore, or a city museum. You can find her work, free resources, and more ways to connect at PierceTheDesignFog.com.
