Valerie Rose

Rose has authored several books, and served for seven years as the Editor-in-Chief for, Inside Region 3, the regional magazine for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.   Her debut novel, Cappuccino in the Winter, a romantic suspense set in Minneapolis/St. Paul, was chosen by Avid Press to launch their new Kismet imprint and was a recommended new title in Black Issues Book Review.  Her second release, a children's book entitled, The Family Reunion is Not A Real Vacation, spawned the development of a proposed animated television series, The Triangleheads. Her third release, You Better Recognize!  was final nominee for the 2003 Annual Minnesota Book Awards. Rose has penned a number of scripts for The Triangleheads and Cappuccino in the Winter.

Rose and/or her books have been featured in Minnesota Monthly Magazine, the St. Paul Pioneer Press, and Black Issues Book Review, among others. As well, she has authored a number of articles for newspapers and magazines. Rose served as the Editor-in-Chief for Inside Region3, U.S. Government magazine, for seven years. She is also a contributing writer and producer for Smooth Jazz Times Web Magazine.

A sought after model and voice talent, Rose has appeared as a film extra in Sundance Film Festival Winner, Dear White People, Blue Balloons, and Torpedo the Damned.  She also appeared in The Learning Channel’s series, Randy to the Rescue and hosted a Minneapolis Television Network show called Just Escape, which she created, wrote, edited and produced. Her interview portfolio includes Congressman Keith Ellison, Former CNN Correspondent Soledad O’Brien, and Wildlife Photographer Dudley Edmondson, among others.

Some of her retail modeling experience includes Macy’s, and ShopNBC. Rose was the principal model for a United Health Care web promotion, and has done work for Walgreens, Best Buy, Lifetime Fitness and Cox Business Systems. 

Rose holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
