Teessider AD Hartley studied animation at university and went on to work as everything but an animator. Having lived across the UK, Kenya, Borneo, Cambodia, and Malaysia, his debut YA novel, The Secrets of Ice Cream Success, is still very much about "home." Originally an animation script, then a short story, and finally a novel, it proves that a good story will always find its way... and that animation degree came in handy after all.
