About the author

Dan Thornton

Based in Denver, Colorado, Dan Thornton is a science fiction author and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. His love for writing began with fantasy and the works of Tolkien, but his journey truly started when he discovered Larry Niven's Ringworld. He served aboard an aircraft carrier during the Gulf War, spending his days on the flight deck wrangling F-14 Tomcats. That real-world chaos and camaraderie became the inspiration behind his stories and is why he leans so heavily into military science fiction.
Dan's debut novel, Fleet of the Forgotten, has been years in the making, with parts of it taking root while he was still in the service. When he's not writing, he can be found building replica props, attending his local Comic-Con, or enjoying his favorite video games. A true fan of all things sci-fi, he counts among his favorites books by classic masters such as Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, and Philip K. Dick, as well as modern titans like M.R. Forbes, John Scalzi, and Andy Weir. He also loves diving into modern sci-fi films like Edge of Tomorrow, Blade Runner 2049, and Dune.
Dan believes that no creative journey is a solo flight, and he is deeply grateful to the entire indie writing community for helping to keep him motivated.
