Dai Swansea
Born in Southampton, England (UK) in 1973 to a loving and caring family. The youngest of five sons by the father (Tom Riggs) and only son of the mother (Marina Riggs). David (Dai) grew up and was educated in Southampton before moving to West Wales in 1997 where after a few jobs decided to tackle a university degree as a mature student. After a successful three year course Dai graduated in 2005 with a 2:1 BA single honours in Religious studies. Dai then moved to Swansea in 2015 where he now lives.
Hiking was always his passion and he grew up with his parents taking him for enjoyable walks on a Sunday afternoon and even tackled Mount Snowdon in North Wales at the age of two where, apparently he walked most of the way up and all of the way down, being carried occasionally by his father and eldest half brothers, although he has no memory of this feat. After suffering from back and leg problems in the early noughties Dai got back on his feet, literally, and began to do distance hiking. This started as fifteen to twenty mile day hikes, graduating to fifty mile two day hikes, before tackling an eighty mile four day hike and then the one hundred and thirty odd mile trek over six days described in this book.
Dai continues to enjoy getting out in nature and hopes to share more of his adventures on the trail in the future.
