For as long as humans have understood the concept of work, we have been trying to devise ways to be more productive. After we learned how to hunt, we tried to figure out how to hunt better. When we finally learned that we could grow our own food, we quickly figured how to ways to grow it in bulk. The entire industrial revolution basically happened because we wanted to produce quality goods more efficiently.
