This book promises to be the first volume in a series of works dedicated to this vast field, which has so far been so little addressed in Romanian scientific literature: bioterrorism.

The authors, although economists by training (doctoral student Daniela Georgiana Golea and private entrepreneur/economist Cătălin Hideg) have ventured, under the guidance/coordination of specialists from other fields, to tackle the problem of bioterrorism in (almost) all its aspects, including in particular the historical evolution of this phenomenon/process, its technological evolution and the impact of new technologies, the presence and action of various factors acting on the current medical-pharmaceutical market, as well as various economic aspects.

For the following volumes, the participation in one form or another (coordination, reference, co-authorship) of specialists in fields relevant to the subject of the work will be sought.

The team of coordinators, reviewers and co-authors also included a number of senior officers from MapN and MAI, among whom Col. (r) Marin Radu stood out. A 1980 graduate of the Military Technical Academy, Faculty of Mechanics for Tanks, Automobiles and Tractors, with a specialization in mechanical engineering for tanks and automobiles, and who became a doctor-engineer in 2002, Col. Marin Radu was between 1985 and 1992 a Defence Production Control Officer in the Department for Defence Production and Armaments of the Army; between 1992 and 1995 he was a senior weapons control officer in the General Staff, being directly involved in the negotiation of the Vienna Document of 1994; as well as other CSBM and CFE documents proposed by OSCE countries in the Forum for Security and Cooperation and the CFE Joint Consultative Group; between 1995 and 1996 he was planning officer for the UN/DPKO, New York/UNAVEM-III Mission to Angola; between 1996 and 1998 he was Head of Office in the Directorate for Strategic Planning and Arms Control (GS/MD of MFA); between December 1998 and March 1999 he was Deputy Head of the OSCE Support Unit in Skopje; between April and June 1999 he was a member of the OSCE Verification Mission in Kosovo (KVM/OSCE); until his retirement (2009) he held various senior positions within the MapN, his work being related either to armaments and arms control/verification or to international military relations.

Among those involved in scientific coordination or/and co-authorship is the physicist Lucian Ștefan Cozma, PhD in Military Sciences of the National Defence University of Bucharest (Military Academy).
