Ken Walters
Ken Walters writes with unique voices. This may come from a varied background, born in Detroit but raised in the South. He earned a BA in journalism from Memphis University and an MFA in fiction from the University of Alabama. He taught English for ten years, foster cared kids with special needs, and worked outside education and the arts for several years. His novel Markers is an expansive science fiction using dual-narratives to tell complimentary stories. More recently, he published A Life: 100 Sonnets, 100 Stories, using the poetic form to relate a hundred years of a character’s life. His multi-layered styles give breadth and depth to the people of his worlds, as well as to their tales.
If you plan to read Markers, it may take a while at about 500 pages, but effectively you are reading two novels, with one character kidnapped and the other searching. At 100 pages, you are drawn into A Life, watching a child grow to old age in almost a time-lapse film.
