The Bevan Commission (hosted and supported by Swansea University) brings together a group of internationally renowned experts who provide independent, authoritative and expert advice on health and care nationally and internationally. The Bevan Commission identifies and shares best practice from healthcare systems around the world, building on the principles of the NHS as first articulated by Aneurin Bevan in 1948. The Commission provides informed and authoritative advice to improve health and care in Wales and its translation into practice. It helps to engage people within the system and those who use the system to innovate and try out and test the viability of their own ideas and new ways of working. The Bevan Commission believes that good health and care is everyone’s responsibility; people, communities, local government, the workplace, and is not just the responsibility of the NHS.
