DEMONS. DEMONIC POSSESSION. HORROR.
- three horror short stories
- 8,378 words in total length
In the title story, Abandon All Hope, a couple setting out for a carefree weekend of camping and relaxation find themselves lost on a desolate road with a dead GPS. The moments of relief they experience when they finally happen upon a rundown gas station in the proverbial middle of nowhere are quickly shattered when they encounter a group of marauding demons, and a relentless chase ensues. The couple eventually seek refuge in a remote church.
The second story, The Incident at the Café, introduces a cultural anthropologist who believes that demons and demonic possession are unverifiable and divert public attention away from pressing real-world social concerns. This story is written as a piece of ergodic literature. Readers are encouraged to reach their own conclusions regarding what’s actually happening.
The third tale sets out the "origin story" for Sloane Reeve, a character who will star in her own ongoing book series, The Case Files of Sloane Reeve, which will launch in early 2017.
Fans of Paul Tremblay’s A Head Full of Ghosts, William Peter Blatty's The Exorcist, Lamberto Bava and Dario Argento’s Demons, and the Paranormal Activity film series should enjoy reading Abandon All Hope.
