A Worthy Successor To Book

The Fire Within the Storm is the second book in this YA Christian-themed fantasy. It’s a clean read (though there is some violence, so I’d call it PG not G), and it’s rather like Game of Thrones in its densely woven plotting. One has to read carefully to not get lost in all the shifting machinations.

Many characters get their own viewpoint chapters: the good Lady Christine, the duplicitous Beatrice, and the morally dubious Nabal and King Radolf among them. Yet the story continues to follow Nadine, a courageous young woman. The story picks up right where Book 1 left off - Nadine’s made her daring escape from the Northern Kingdom… but in the process lost something that will give King Radolf a new opportunity to dominate the world!

The Christian element is woven subtly into the plot, and the heroes/heroines lead by example, as they should. That said, I can’t help but feel that one of the main themes is stated outright quite beautifully in the book:

I loved getting to know the characters better and how they are all growing and changing. Each having their own battles to prepare for. We see things from different perspectives. I always love when authors do this. I always like to hear how all the characters feel and what they are thinking. An exciting book filled with lots of action. Waiting for the next book to see what happens next.
