How do you save the world when you can’t see it?

Channel’s world is Unreal. She lives in Paradise 3 Community—an augmented reality where retinal implants are used to hide the Real world, hideous and decimated by an eruption years prior.

After training her whole life to become a World Builder, Channel’s dreams are dashed when a new implant technology emerges that alters the senses, and her skills are rendered virtually useless.

Or so she thinks.

Mila’s world is Real and devastated. Her family has opted out of the Communities and the Unreal world only to end up fighting for survival with the barest of resources.

With nothing in her future but suffering—and desperate to save her family—she sets out with her brother Alek in search of a better life.

Channel and Mila find help in the most unlikely place: each other.
